Michael Daigle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory - Cumming on Dec. 2, 2023.
Michael (Mike) C. Daigle, Jr.
February 2, 1983 – November 26, 2023
Michael was born in Louisiana on Ground Hog Day. In the movie, Ground Hog Day, the day keeps repeating, and the main character realizes he has an opportunity to make each encounter with people more meaningful. Michael was obsessively compassionate in learning the small things that were important to people. Like the character in the movie, he too made each encounter better or more helpful to those he met. He spent the last 33 years in Georgia, but still loved LSU football, and also Atlanta Braves baseball. He was the glue that held everybody together and kept everyone in check. He had high standards, but he wanted the best for you as much as for himself. Throughout his life, he remained steadfast and dedicated to his beliefs and values. He was known for the passion with which he spoke of things that he loved and disliked. Family always remained his priority, like visiting his grandmother, taking his brother to Hawaii, and planning family outings and vacations where everyone could enjoy something. He also was a foodie, always looking for interesting and very tasty places to enjoy new food, but it was also about the companions with which he enjoyed the meal.
He attended North Cobb High School, Mercer University, and Kennesaw State University. He was an Eagle Scout, and spent his life living the Scout motto "Be Prepared," and encouraged many scouts after him to persevere in this great achievement. He was very active as a member and later as a leader in the Life Teen Ministry.
He was very proud of his work with Scientific Games over the last 15 years, most recently as a Software Test Engineer in the Lottery Systems Interactive Services department. Many of his co-workers became a second family to him, sharing in many mutual hobbies and activities outside of work.
Michael is survived by his parents, Mike Daigle, Sr. and Suzette Daigle, his younger siblings, Elliott Daigle, Phillip Daigle, and Katie Daigle, as well as his sister-in-law Sandy Daigle, and his nieces, Lily Daigle, Kiran Daigle, and his nephew, Malkiel Daigle. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Sally Daigle of Louisiana, and extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins in Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, and Maryland. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Daigle of Louisiana, his maternal grandmother, Jessie Constant and his maternal grandfather, Dan Constant, both of Louisiana.
The funeral Mass for Michael will be on December 12th at 2:30pm, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 1618 Ben King Road, Kennesaw, Ga. 30144.
The Inurnment of his ashes will be on December 15th at 1:00pm at the Columbarium at St. Brendan the Navigator, 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming, Ga. 30040. There will be a Reception immediately following the inurnment in the social hall.
There will be another celebration of life in Louisiana at a later date to be determined. Updates will be posted to Facebook.
Michael embodied perseverance in times of difficulty, and endured many long days and nights of great pain battling cancer, so we are grateful that this chapter ended on November 26, 2023, and a new one began in his spiritual journey. The memories, moments, and love we shared will always remain cherished in our hearts.
Wisdom 4:7, "But the righteous one, though he die early, shall be at rest."

I had the privilege of knowing Michael when I was an assistant youth minister at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

He was a light-hearted, but serious minded, and devout young man who made our LifeTeen program better and holier. I am a better man, Christian, and Catholic for having known Michael.

Sending our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the Daigle family and all who love and miss Michael.

Sincerest sympathy to the Daigle family from Deacon Tom and Ann Ryan. Our paths crossed often during years at North Cobb High, St Catherine´s, and Scouting. May Michael´s soul and souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
