Michael C. DiBella, M.D., (80), of Saint Augustine, Florida, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022. He was born on April 18, 1941, to Andrew DiBella and Roberta Kelber DiBella in Newark, New Jersey.
In 1963, Michael received his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, and subsequently earned a medical degree from New Jersey College of Medicine in 1968. Michael then completed his postdoctoral training at Martland Hospital and New Jersey College of Medicine, and included the following: 1968-1969 straight medical Internship, 1969-1970 medical resident, 1970-1971 nephrology fellow, and 1971-1972 Chief Medical Resident. In 1972 Michael became an instructor of internal medicine at New Jersey College of Medicine. That same year Michael opened a private practice in Toms River, New Jersey, and served as president and practicing physician of the Hypertension and Kidney Group of Ocean County until 1993. During 1995 and 1996 Michael served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, New Jersey, and from 1996- 1999 was Vice President for Medical Quality at Community Medical Center, Toms River, New Jersey. After retiring from private practice and relocating to Saint Augustine, Florida, Michael became Vice President for Quality Improvement at Flagler Hospital, followed by Chief Medical Officer until his second retirement in 2017. For many years after relocating Michael would travel to New Jersey once a month to care for his long-standing patients. Michael also had several special interests, but his love for photography surmounted them all. Often, he could be found at the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm enjoying this love. Throughout the years he and his wife, Marguerite, traveled the world, and he documented these adventures with his photos. Moreover, Michael was a member of Saint Anastasia Catholic Church.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Roberta DiBella, and his brother Andrew DiBella, Jr. He is survived by his wife Marguerite DiBella; daughter Ann DiBella-Pino, DMD and son-in-law Tomas Pino, DDS; son Michael C. DiBella, Jr. and his fiancée Brittani Schroeder. He is also survived by grandchildren Julianna DiBella, Michael C. DiBella, III, Nicole Pino and Tommy Pino, as well as Goddaughter Dana DiBella.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10 AM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 AM at Saint Anastasia Catholic Church, Saint Augustine, Florida.
