Michael J. Donnelly

Michael J. Donnelly Sr., age 71 years, of Plymouth, died Saturday at Beth Israel – Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was the husband of Patricia (Reese) Donnelly, and the son of the late John J. and Nancy (Crisp) Donnelly. Born in Boston on July 17, 1953, he was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. Michael has made his home with Pat and their family in Plymouth for the past 47 years. He worked for the Plymouth School System in the maintenance department until his retirement. He was everyone's handyman, if you needed something fixed, built or renovated, he was your guy and always wiling to help. He enjoyed playing golf and loved to play bocce. Michael loved to travel with Patty along with family and their closest friends. This past October they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a wonderful friends and family trip to Ireland. And, he would never turn down a trip to Disney with his grandkids. Mike was happiest surrounded by family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife Patty, he is survived by his children Michael Donnelly Jr. and his wife Melissa of Danvers, Michelle Donnelly and her partner Eddie Hernandez of Quincy, and Melissa Dorman and her partner Michael Murphy of Plymouth, his grandchildren Reese, Molly and Charlie Donnelly, and Matthew and Joseph Dorman. One of eleven children, he is the brother of the late William Donnelly, and his sister-in-law Claire Donnelly of West Roxbury, Susan Philbrook and her husband Keith of Walpole, John Donnelly of Jamaica Plain, Nancy Donnelly of Jamaica Plain, Peggy Campbell and her husband Kevin of Dedham, Jerome Donnelly and his late wife Kathleen of Roslindale, Alan Donnelly and his wife Melissa of Readville, Kathleen Donnelly of Maine, Maureen Mahony and her husband Keith of Dedham, and Annmarie Daly and her husband Thomas of Dedham. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Marie Calabraro from Plymouth and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the Donnelly family will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in the CARTMELL-DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 619 State Road, Plymouth (MANOMET) from 4:00PM – 7:00PM. His funeral mass will be held on Thursday May 22nd at 11:00AM at St. Bonaventure's Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth (MANOMET).
