As a tent man, which he called himself, he loved celebrating special occasions. He served as President of Manufacturers & Tent Rental Association, Director of the American Rental Association and Portsmouth Partnership Board Member. Mike loved Red Sox Baseball, Miami Dolphins and Gamecock football, traveling around the world, and fishing around Hampton Roads. Most of all, Mike loved his family.
Mike, son of Carolynne Stavola & Hugh Vinton Fitzwater, is survived by his loving wife Shelley, five children: Grady, Ellis, Graham, Andrew, and Mary; and two sisters, Carol (Tim) Hudson and Marcia (Bernie) Rull.
His service will be held at Christ & St. Luke's Church, Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1 PM with a celebration of his life afterwards at TowneBank University at 3 PM (6001 Harbour View Blvd, Suffolk, Virginia 23435). In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's honor can be made with Roc Solid Foundation, supporting families with childhood cancer, at rocsolidfoundation.org. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, North Suffolk Chapel is serving the family. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
