Michael R. Gaouette from Lake Mary, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on August 2nd. At just 30 years old, Mike's passing has left our family in a state of devastation and shock. Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, 1993, in Altamonte Springs, Michael was the son of Danielle Martel and Rodney Gaouette.
Following high school, Michael embarked on a full-time career as a plumber. He achieved Med Gas Certification over a year ago and rose to the position of crew leader. His strong work ethic made him proud of his accomplishments, and he was optimistic about his future in the field.
Mike lived most of his life in Winter Springs, cherishing the times spent with family and friends engaging in activities like fishing, dirt bike riding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, and mountain biking. He seized every opportunity to travel. Known for his adventurous spirit and the gift of gab, Mike was an extraordinary storyteller, recalling even the minutest details from years ago. He could always spin a new tale, complete with accents, to bring laughter. Mike was also deeply committed to preserving nature, particularly Florida's wildlife and waterways, from the threats of invasive species and overfishing.
Mike has continued his legacy by donating his organs to save multiple lives and research for diabetes.
Mike is survived by his mother, Danielle Martel; stepfather, Scott Casey; his father, Rodney Gaouette; stepmother, Christine Gaouette; Grandmother, Theresa Martel; brother, Wolfgang Hinst; sisters, Madison Gaouette, Alexis Politis (Hunter), and Kaley Smith; uncles, Mike Martel (Sharon) and Max Gaouette; aunts, Michelle Pecen (Dave) and Michelle Kelly; cousins, Graham Crothers, Jessica Simmons, Madison Martel, Megan Martel, Kaylie Klein, Kendall Kelly (Tyler), Max Gaouette (affectionately known as Mini), Jennifer Marks, Allen McCoy, Judy Marks (James), and Michael Marks; family friend, Scott Harger (Pam), and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Barry E Martel, and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Donna Gaouette.
A service to honor Mike's life will be held on Saturday, August 31st, at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, FL 32750. Visitation begins at 10:30 am, with a time set aside for sharing memories during the service starting at 11:30 am.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial donation to the Florida Wildlife Federation or a similar organization in his memory.
