Michael Dennis Hakeos

Michael Dennis Hakeos, 73, of Temperance, MI passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Toledo Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born August 6, 1949, in Toledo, OH to Herbert and Dorothy (Freeman) Hakeos. He married Darlene Kinney on October 26, 1968. Mike graduated from Bedford High School in 1967 and received an Associate's Degree from Monroe Community College. He was employed by Francis Foods as a meat cutter and then DuPont Chemical as a Lab Technician. Mike enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching baseball throughout his life. He also loved spending time with his family at their cottage on Devil's Lake. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and served faithfully in a variety of roles. Mike will be fondly remembered by his quick wit, contagious smile, humility, perseverance, courage, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife Darlene of 54 years, and children Deanna (Matthew) Ortiz, Anita (Jeremy) Simmons, William (Julie) Hakeos, Sarah (John) Jacobs and Sandra (Brian) Pugh. His legacy lives on through his 21 grandchildren who love & adore him: Madeline, Alex, Aidan, & Maya Ortiz, McCarty, Mallory, Ellie, Aubrie, & Liberty Simmons, Kate, Beth, Tori, & Carly Hakeos, Kylie, Anya, Kaleb, & Alyse Jacobs, and Evan, Carter, Abby, & Blake Pugh. He's also survived by siblings Sharon (Edward) Zak, Susan (Paul) Shaffer, Stephen (Wendy) Hakeos and Russell (Tammy) Hakeos. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald.
Visitation at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road, Temperance, Michigan, will begin on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral services on Monday, June 5, 2023 will be held at Bedford Alliance Church, 8645 Jackman Road, Temperance, Michigan beginning at 10:00 am where he will lie instate, followed by services at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
