Michael Fletcher Harbertson also known as Mike, Mikey, Honey, brother, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Harb, son, friend, etc…passed away December 2, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones from pancreatic and liver cancer.

Mike was born on March 4, 1949 to Ray M and Darlene Steed Harbertson. He grew up in Ogden, Utah with his loving sister Donna Rae. This is where he spent his time exploring the mountains with his friends also known as the El Rancho Rockets. It was during his youth where he was fine tuning his skills of pyrotechnics, building just about anything, hunting, fishing and humor – he was a funny guy.

He then married and was drafted in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a true patriot, loved his country and honored the flag. During this time, he had two children, Heidi (Chris) and Chad which he loved very much. He was an active father that was the envy of the neighborhood. He was a beautiful welder and builder of recreational toys that all enjoyed. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his children.

Later in life he then met, fell in love with, and married the love of his life Sherrie Julander. He then gained three additional children, Sonia (Brad), Heather (Joe), and Casey (Rachel). Together they built a home of love and enjoyed all 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren with an additional one on the way. He was active with all his family, front and center for all their activities, taking too many pictures to mention and ensuring each one of them knew they were his favorite.

Mike and Sher enjoyed their time together loving, dancing, laughing, and spending time at the Cub River – their little piece of heaven. They enjoyed sharing that with all their family and friends.

Mikes talents were far reaching. There wasn’t a project or task he wouldn’t try. He was a beautiful welder, amazing wood worker, built his own home, helped his friends and family with all their homes, etc… He never shied away from building anything.

His life career went from the Army, long career at Hill Air Force Base starting in refueling, moved to the welding shop, and then as a budget programmer for foreign countries on simulators in jet engines. He was able to see many countries and made lifelong friends on the Jordan, Australia, and Greece programs.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sherrie; his sister, Donna Ray (Charlie); his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and too many friends whom he considered family to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Harbertson and Darlene Arrington.

Mike was larger than life. He lit up a room when he entered it.

Mike, a great fried to all and always treated you with kindness and dignity. Got to know him when I was a sophomore at Ben Lomond High School and he was a senior. I always admired him a dedicated man to the cause. Kind, understanding, love of county and just outstanding in every way. I live in South Jordan and today saw his obituary and pass my condolences on to his family. May this good man Rest In Peace and as noble as he was have a enjoyable renunciation above. Mike is one in a million. Dale Hansen
