Michael Francis Heim (Mike) age 63, of Ocean City, New Jersey (formerly of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania) passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
Michael was born on February 3, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Karl and Virginia Heim. He will be remembered lovingly by his wife of 31 years Dawn (née Draves) and sons Dylan and Jake.
Michael grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and moved to Havertown when he was 10 where he graduated from Haverford High School. Michael began his professional career immediately following High School at the age of 18. He later received his Associates degree in Business Management while working full time.
Michael was a committed father who was active in his community. For many years Michael could be found coaching baseball at the URA fields in Unionville, PA. “Baseball Ready” and his large wingspan could not be missed.
Michael spent his entire professional career of 43 ½ years at Johnson Matthey in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Starting in shipping and receiving and working his way up into site and security management. Michael was a dedicated and loyal employee of Johnson Matthey; his work was a part of his identity. In 2021, he and Dawn happily retired to the Jersey Shore, Ocean City, New Jersey where they spent the last few years traveling in the winter. Michael always was looking for the warm weather, one year they spent the season driving across country visiting their sons on the West Coast and this year to Florida to look for their future retirement home.
Michael was an avid boatsman and fisherman, who loved to be out on the water and graciously shared that experience. When not fishing you could find him and Dawn on the boat cruising to Atlantic City on the water for lunch dates or simply toiling around the back bays of Ocean City. He knew he always had his beloved companion Rodney, the Rod Holder, to catch some fish. Whenever he came back empty handed, he reminded everyone that the sport was “fishing, not catching.”
When Michael was not on the water, he spent his time with friends and family. It was often joked that he should run for Mayor of Ocean City because of his larger-than-life personality and his innate ability to make friends.
He is remembered as an incredibly generous person. He was a host of the highest degree, always ready to accommodate anyone—he went above and beyond to help those around him. He would do anything for anyone, but most of all did everything for his family. He will be dearly missed.
You are invited to visit with family and friends at 9:00 am Saturday, January 28, 2023 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA

Dear Heim Family, I was just passing by when I saw this. I graduated from Haverford High School with Michael and I would always see him around campus. Michael Always had a good attitude and a warm smile. We would shoot the breeze and joke around in the hallways between classes. His last name means "Home" in German and he is finally home with the Angels. God Bless you one and all. Bo

We are so sorry to hear of Mikes´s passing He was always a wonderful person to be around. My fondest memories were my son at the scouts Pinewood Derby and him helping us figure out the weights on the car. We were clueless but Mike knew cars! Dawn, you and Dylan and Jake are in our thoughts.
