Michael C. Henthorn, age 83 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born in Dubuque, IA on December 12, 1939, the son of William and Catherine (Bresnehan) Henthorn. Michael's family then moved to Barstow, CA, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He then attended San Diego State University before achieving his bachelor's degree at Governors State University in Chicago, IL. Michael served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Debra Lenzendorf on November 27, 1969, in Janesville, WI. Together, they raised their two children in Rockford, IL. He worked at Western Electric in Chicago and then Sundstrand, more recently known as Raytheon Technologies Corporation, for 30 years until retirement. He and his wife traveled to Arizona every winter, where he enjoyed rockhounding and gold hunting. Michael also enjoyed Western films and cowboy culture. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Deb; their children Brian Henthorn and Rebecca Bjurquist; his brother Richard (Sharon) Henthorn; his grandchildren Scott, Emma, Michael, Brittany, Brianna, and Isabelle; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Smock.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. There will be a rosary at church on Monday at 10:30 A.M. Military honors will be accorded at the church after Mass with a Celebration of Michael's life to follow at Huckleberry's Restaurant.
