Michael T. Hunsanger

LEXINGTON- Michael T. Hunsanger, age 85, a resident of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 29, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on April 13, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Clement and Bernice (Persyn) Hunsanger. Michael married Irene J. Puidokas on May 14, 1988 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

Mike was a retail warehouse manager for several different grocery stores, officially retiring to Lexington in 2001. Mike was a dedicated and devoted member of the St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington, where he was in the Ushers Club and served as an Usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. LaHaie Council #7255 in Lexington and the Sanilac County Chapter of Right to Life. Mike was a devoted Catholic man and he lived his beliefs every day. He loved his wife, Irene, his children and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Hunsanger of Lexington, four children, Jim (Beth) Hearnes of Attica, Anna McIntyre of New Haven, Roberta (Don) Hall of St. Clair Shores and Maria (Scott) Parol of Lenox; four grandchildren, Rob, Becky, Anastasia and Christopher; and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Alan (Kay) Hunsanger and three sisters, Kathy Barbetta, Mary (Dominic) Cusumano and Susan (John) Valenti; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Raymond Hunsanger and Richard Hunsanger.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Ave Maria Parish- St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington, with visiting at the church form 10- 11 A.M. Monday morning. Fr. Bala Mandanu will officiate. Interment in the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery will immediately follow the mass, followed by a luncheon back at the hall at St. Denis. Memorials in memory of Mike may be made to St. Denis Catholic Church, Sanilac County Right to Life or the Knights of Columbus.
