The Shaw family announces the passing of Susan Joyce Shaw, of Lexington, KY, December 2025. Born January 5, 1950 in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Moorhead, MN, HS ('68) and Macalester College, St Paul, MN. ('72) and did MBA graduate studies at UCLA.
Susan's love of horses and desire to learn about and participate in the horse industry brought her to Kentucky. Susan also received a post-baccalaureate degree as a para-legal from Eastern Kentucky University, eventually working at the University of Kentucky where she provided 22 years of administrative services to faculty, staff, and students until her retirement.
Susan's family wishes to deeply thank all of Susan's friends gathered on her journey from Moorhead to her cherished home, Lexington. We are remembering those who embraced her in academic studies, the horse world, First Presbyterian Church, University of Kentucky, Bridge partners, and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald's House of the Bluegrass, and other endeavors.
Susan was preceded in death by parents Chester and Helen Shaw originally Moorhead, MN then Cornelia, GA. Survived by brothers Thomas (Wendy) Shaw, Waleska, GA, David (Ricki) Shaw, Moorhead, MN, and sisters Louise Shaw, San Antonio, TX, and Linda Shaw-Elgin (Ron Elgin), Grand Forks, ND, plus nieces and nephews: Allen Shaw (Katie Hermens), Kristen Shaw, Lauren Shaw, Erin Shaw, Andrew (Emily/Leith) Shaw, Jaime Shaw, Kelsey Shaw (Shawn Peterson), and Toni (Matt/River and Soren) Evensen.
The memorial for Susan Shaw will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, 171 Market Street, Lexington, KY, visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
