Michael John Jackson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, left this world on June 14, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 31, 1953, in Cook County, IL. Michael carried the spirit of his hometown throughout his life, spreading joy and kindness wherever he went. He passed away in Barrington, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of love and selflessness.
Michael was the cherished husband of Doreen Jackson, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of over 40 years, having tied the knot on October 27, 1984. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. He was a devoted father to Ben Jackson and his wife Edyta, and Michelle Castanada and her husband Peter. Michael's siblings, David Jackson, and his wife Janice, brother and sister in-laws George (Marlene), Sharon and Albert fondly remember his unwavering support and infectious laughter.
Family was the cornerstone of Michael's life, and he took immense pride in his role as a grandfather. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren Jenny, Victoria (Justin), Matthew, Nathan, and Peter, Jr., and was thrilled to have witnessed the birth of his great-grandchild, Vincent "Vinny", Aunts and Uncle Dianne (Bill) Briggs and Judy Rich, Nieces and Nephews Kathleen (Freddie), Lisa (Rick) Eric (Vanessa), Joseph, Christopher, Sara (Sean) Michael (Julie). Michael was preceded in death by his parents, John Gennuso, Stepfather Lloyd and Cecelia Jackson, and by his brothers-in-law, Billy and Danny Ross, and sister-in-law, Arlene.
Michael's passion for life was evident to all who knew him. An avid golfer, he enjoyed the serenity of the greens and the friendly competition among peers. His love for sports extended beyond the golf course as he was a dedicated fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks, celebrating each triumph with the same enthusiasm as if it were his own.
Vacations were a source of joy for Michael, as he relished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with his family. He was also an enthusiast for culinary adventures, always eager to try new restaurants and savor different cuisines. At home, he could often be found cheering on his grandchildren at their various sports events, a proud grandfather through and through.
Described by those who knew him as selfless, honest, and straightforward, Michael was the epitome of a loving individual. His willingness to drop everything to help someone in need was a trait that endeared him to many. His adventurous spirit and selfless nature made him a beacon of light in the lives of his family and friends.
As we remember Michael, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His straightforward, loving approach to life, and his adventurous spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind.
