Michael S. Jones, age 77, of Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at OSU Medical Center following a recent decline in health.
Born on September 4, 1948, in Coshocton, Ohio, to the late George and Margie (Udder) Jones, Michael graduated from Riverview High School in 1966. He worked as a credit manager with Hague Water Company, where he dedicated many years before retiring.
Michael's life was centered on caring for and providing for his family, whom he cherished above all else. He was a devoted member and former trustee of Asbury Methodist Church. He was also a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 18 F & AM and a former member of the Delaware Lions Club and the Jaycees.
A lover of the water, Michael found joy in boating, water skiing, and tubing-always proudly serving as the "captain of the ship." He also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, as well as bowling and golfing. A loyal fan of Ohio State University athletics, he seldom missed a Buckeye football or basketball game.
Quiet, gentle, and kind, Michael had an easygoing nature and a genuine desire to make others happy. His unique laugh, steady presence, and deep love of family will remain treasured memories for all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 55 years, Marcia (Butcher); daughter-in-law, Juli Jones; his treasured grandchildren, Sydnie, Kayden, and Taylor; brother-in-law, Ed (Neville) Butcher; nieces, Kristin Butcher and Karin (Toby) Suerdieck; several great-nieces and nephews; and cousins Chris and Victoria Smoke.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his son, Brian Glen Jones, in 2022, and his brother, Gregory "Pat" Jones.
Friends may call from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24, at the Snyder Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr. at W. William St., Delaware, Ohio. Masonic services will be held at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 55 W. Lincoln St., Delaware, with friends invited to call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio, 410 W. 10th Ave., 7th Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43210.
