Michael Brooks Kent Sr.

Michael Brooks Kent, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 26, 2025. Born on October 15, 1942 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Jordan Clarence "Jack" Kent and Judy (Hale) Kent of Atlanta and was the second of five children.
Mr. Kent's professional career in the technology sector spanned nearly 40 years. He held numerous positions at both Delta Airlines and Worldspan including computer room supervisor, systems analyst, manager of programming, resource manager, senior project manager, and lead programmer analyst.
A dedicated Christian, Mr. Kent became a believer at the age of 16 at Bethel Methodist Church in West Atlanta. He was a long-time member of the Southern Baptist community, joining Ash Street Baptist Church in Forest Park, Georgia in 1966, where he was baptized by immersion. Throughout his life, he served faithfully as an ordained deacon, Sunday School teacher, church secretary, and church treasurer in several local churches including Flat Creek Baptist in Fayetteville, Heatherwood Baptist in Newnan, Turin Baptist, and Sharpsburg Baptist.
Mr. Kent was active in his community volunteering in PTA school events, serving as the chairman of the Personnel Grievance Review Board for the City of Riverdale and as an active member and officer of the East Coweta Band Boosters Club. He also volunteered his time as a leader in the after-school Good News Clubs. He enjoyed reading, traveling with his wife Jackie and other family members, and spending time walking on the beach or in the woods.
Mr. Kent is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Eberhardt Kent; his three children, Amanda Adkins, Andrea Parker, and Michael Brooks Kent, Jr. and their spouses; his sisters, Barbara Kent Raymond and Karen Kent Madert; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four nieces; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Kent Burnett, and his brother, Larry Kent.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sharpsburg Baptist Church with Dr. Wallace McAbee officiating.
