Michael J. Kersten, 47, of Ashton, IL passed away on September 20, 2022. Michael was born on April 20, 1975 in Rochelle, IL to Rae John and Sherryl Kersten. Michael was a member of the Ashton United Methodist Church and served as a member of the Ashton Fire Department. He graduated from Ashton High School and received his Associates from Sauk Valley Community College. He liked camping, fishing, watching movies, woodworking, playing and watching baseball and basketball, as well as, shooting guns at target practice. He also enjoyed being around his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his mother, Sherryl; 2 sisters, Michelle Ramirez of Ashton and Lori Talley of Amboy; Nieces and nephews, Kristin (Austin), Alexis, James and Nate; Great nieces and nephews, Anna Lynne, Clint, MaciRae, Mia, as well as one on the way in January 2023.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Rae John.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Ashton United Methodist Church or to Serenity Hospice and Home.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson Ave, Ashton, IL 61006. Funeral service will be held next day, Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow out to Ashton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.beveragelyonsfamilyfh.com
