Mr. Michael Charles Kinyon ("Roxboro Red"), age sixty-three, departed this life and entered into Heavenly rest Friday, October 25, 2024 in Marietta, Georgia. He was born in Durham, North Carolina April 1, 1961 to the late James Kinyon and Eunice Winstead Kinyon, but was raised in Roxboro, North Carolina and at an early age, joined the Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
He was educated the Person County School System, served in the United States Army and spent the latter years of his life in Marietta, Georgia with his children.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Pamela Ann Norwood and to this union, two children were born: Michael T. Kinyon (Tyron) and Kenyatta Christina Kinyon (Casey). He later married Cassandra Rogers and from this union, one child was born, Takira Sade Rogers, and a step-daughter, Alexis D. Vinson.
In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by mothers-in-law: Sarah Norwood McGhee and Ada Rogers; four brothers: Barry Lee Kinyon, Eddie Lee Kinyon, Mario Alston and Donald Lee Alston; a sister, Brenda Alston; step-father, Eddie Alston; maternal grandparents, Alex E. and Mavin Featherstone Winstead; paternal grandparents, Herbert and Annie Kenyon; seven uncles: Clyde Kenyon, Bobby Kenyon, William Harvey Winstead, L.B. Winstead, Alex Winstead, Clyde Winstead and Curtis Winstead; five aunts: Hattie Maude Winstead Stewart, Martha Winstead Lawson, Elzenia Winstead Wright, Aretha Kenyon Snooks and Ivory Winstead Credle; two special cousins, Thomas Stewart (Bernard) and Rodney Winstead.
Michael leaves to cherish his beautiful memories, his children: Tyron (Teena), Casey, Takira and Alexis; grandchildren: Zaevien, Kamala, Todd, Jeffrey, Jordan, DJ and Jashia; great-grandchildren: Zuhri, Amora, Aziyah, Antonio and Tailyn; nine sisters: Doretha Dickey, Cheryl Howard, Kam Williams, Melodee Kenyon, Jamee Robinson, Debbie Alston, Denise Alston, Johnna Larson and Tracey K. Green; a brother, Tony Alston; two sisters-in-law: Katie Rogers and Velvet Rogers; five uncles: William Winstead (Charlesina), Leonard Lee Kenyon (Doris), Charlie Kenyon (Margaret), Ted Davis and Roscoe Kenyon; three aunts: Ernestine Ledbetter, Zella W. Winstead and Tauheedah Hasan; three special cousins: Lawrence Lawson (Chris), Albert Winstead ("Bighead"), and Terence Winstead ("Tee"), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
A Service of Remembrance with military honors will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 2:00pm at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home with Elder Clyde Winstead, Pastor at Faith Temple United Holy Church, providing the eulogy. The family will receive visitors Saturday at the funeral home during the hour before the service, 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
The family will also receive visitors at a repast Saturday immediately following the service at the home of his aunt and uncle, 628 Jones Lester Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574.
