Michael retired in 2007 with 38 years of dedicated service and Pamela retired in 2002 after 35 years. Since retiring, Michael and Pamela have enjoyed attending special events sponsored by their former employer. Michael especially loved participating in Howell's Employee Golf Tournaments as he was an avid golfer and a huge sports fan. As a teenager, Michael loved to bowl at the Dixie Bowling Alley in Southport and play baseball with the neighborhood gang at Universal Village Park. Baseball was Michael's favorite sport. He was a die-hard Yankees fan and a season pass holder for the Elmira Pioneers team. In his free time, Michael enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, reading his books on the Civil War, and taking long leisurely walks on the streets of Elmira. Michael was a special man to his family, friends, and anyone that met him. Michael's heart was filled with so much goodness that to know him, was to love him. Guests will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira on Sunday, June 19, 2022 between the hours of 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 4:15 p.m. Burial will take place at the family's convenience in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, surrounded by his loving family.
