It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of beloved husband and father, Gus A Laskaris, 60 years of age. He passed away on July 5, 2024 due to Pancreatic cancer. Gus was born on April 2, 1964 to parents Gus and Evelyn Laskaris in Norfolk, Virginia. Gus served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. He then went on to become a civil engineer and later in life to obtain his medical degree and practice as a Board Certified Emergency Physician until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Heather Laskaris, his children Gus Laskaris, Sophia Laskaris, Max Laskaris, Eleni Laskaris and Eddye Abrams and his grandson Emerson Mendez. Gus was an honorable and compassionate husband, father and physician. He loved his country and spoke highly of his time in the Marines that, "made him into the great man he became and of the many lessons that made him unafraid of hard work." Gus's favorite hobby was mountain biking and those that had the great fortune to know him and follow him on social media were often regaled by his "tales from the trails."
Services for Gus will be held on October 11, 2024 at the Phoenix National Veteran's Cemetery at 2:30 pm. A celebration of life will be held in the home of Heather Laskaris afterward. The family will be posting a link to Gus's Veteran's Memorial page on social media platforms and providing the link to friends, family and colleagues to provide memories, insights and condolences.
