Michael Linney Obituary

Michael is the son of Sarah Crenshaw Finch and the late John R. Finch. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Lolita Linney Payne and Charles Linney. Michael is father of two children; left to cherish loving and fond memories of him, are Michael A. Linney, Jr. and Phylicia Linney (Desmond) Robinson, both of Richmond, VA. Additionally, survived by siblings, Walter (Yteria) Linney, Mary Linney and Larry Linney; two grandchildren whom he absolutely adored, Phoenix and Kai Robinson; and several cousins, nieces, a nephew, and friends.
Michael is a graduate of Asheville High school (1974) and Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA. As a member of the VU Panthers basketball team, he concluded his senior season helping the team achieve their first Division 2 Title win in the NCAA. Always the consummate athlete and competitor, he played softball, tennis, other sports, and chess.
Also, a huge fan of the Las Vegas Raiders (formerly known as the Los Angeles Raiders).
Michael was a strategic thinker and numbers guy whose career as an Accountant took him to several agencies and state organizations and led him to eventually establish his own Accounting services organization.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Friday, March 22, 2024 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. The service will be streamed live via the website: rayfuneralcremation.com

Today, I bid farewell to you, my dear friend. It's difficult to comprehend that I'll never hear you utter my name or hear you respond "exceptionally well" when I ask how you're doing. I want you to know that I cherished our time together, and it breaks my heart to realize that I won't see you on another Tuesday after spending 12 years of Tuesdays with you. I am grateful for all the laughter and wisdom you shared with me, and I pray that you find eternal peace, resting "exceptionally well."
