Michael Lee Mathis

We are deeply saddened to announce that on February 11, 2025, we had to say goodbye to Michael Mathis (70). Mike was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and attended St. Thomas Catholic School and Camelback High School. He will be terribly missed by his devoted wife of 46 years, Denise, and their only daughter, Leslie.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and grew up hunting, fishing, camping, and off-roading throughout Arizona. He enjoyed all sports, including golf, softball, disc golf, ping pong, and pool. He especially loved spending time in his beloved White Mountains of eastern Arizona. Mike was a tile contractor and owned his own business for 25 years, even appearing in local magazines. He married his soulmate, Denise, in 1979, and their marriage was filled with laughter and adventures. Mike and Denise loved to golf, play softball, ride ATVs, sing karaoke, and spend time with their granddaughters. Many memories were made at the family cabin in Alpine. His humor is something that will be remembered by everyone who knew him.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Thelma Grace Mathis, and his brother, Sam Mathis.
Mike is survived by his wife, Denise; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Kevin Smith of Oklahoma; granddaughters, Amelia and Madelyn Smith of Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bob Miklos of Tennessee; and nephew, Brennan Miklos of Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the VFW, located at 4853 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85018.
