Mr. Michael Ryan Mathis, Sr., 62, of Mauk, GA, passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Brown Springs Church of God with Rev. Jeff Johnson and Richard Davis officiating. The family will greet friends at Brown Springs Church of God on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Lane Griffin, Gene “Dino” Kite, Steve Sprouse, Tommy Eckert, John Mercer, and Robert McRae.
Mr. Mathis was born in Columbus, GA, to Earnest Earl Mathis and Lovie Jewel Fuller Hale. He was the owner and operator of his own trucking company and loved traveling in his 18 wheeler. Mr. Mathis enjoyed dancing and listening to live bands. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to Bike Week in Panama City Beach every year and going to the dirt track were some of his favorite things to do. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John “Padro” Hale, by a brother, Rocky Earl Mathis, and a nephew C. J. Blanchard.
He is survived by his son Michael Ryan Mathis, Jr.; his granddaughter, Kagen Leigh Sumner (Jacob Sumner); three sisters, Patty Rodgers (Derick) of Rome, NY, Anita Lewis of Mauk, GA, and Angie Catrett of Box Springs, GA; his nieces, Courtney Catrett (Brian Nichols), Haley Robinson (Michael Robinson), Abby Catrett, Lori, Cora, and Lisa Scott; a nephew, Robby Lewis (Jennifer Montgomery), Step-sister, Lisa Hale Fouski; great nieces, Mackenzie, Katalina, and Kearstan Catrett, Whitley Robinson, Cadie Lewis, Emily Hurst, Andralee and Jasmine Brantley, Taylor Montgomery, and a great niece on the way in June; great-nephews, Johnathan Lewis (Kari Lewis), Caleb Lewis, Wyatt Catrett, and a great-great-niece, Ansley Lewis.
