Michael D Mauro

Michael D. Mauro, 72, of New Providence, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, May 29, 2022, with his loving family by his side.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, June 1st, from 4 to 8 pm at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ. The Funeral Service will be held at Presbyterian Church at New Providence, 1307 Springfield Avenue, New Providence, NJ on Thursday, June 2nd, at 11 AM followed by the interment at St. Teresa Cemetery, Passaic Avenue, Summit.
Michael was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Rose (nee Genovese) and Michael Mauro. He had resided in New Providence, NJ for 33 years, where, together with his beloved wife Janet, he raised his family.
Michael was a graduate of Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in The US Marine Corp, where he honorably served before being discharged in 1973.
Michael had a successful career as a commodities trader for the New York Mercantile Exchange, where he had worked for over 20 years before his retirement in 2001.
Michael is lovingly remembered as being a true family man. He selflessly cared for his late wife throughout her lengthy illness and always made his family a priority. Michael was always present for his family, never missing a sporting event for his children, and later for his grandchildren, whom he adored.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds of golf with dear friends at Fairmount Country Club in Chatham. He loved vacationing in Long Boat Key, FL and Long Beach Island, NJ, and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. Michael was also a huge NY Mets fan.
Michael was pre-deceased in 2017 by his beloved wife, Janet Mauro (nee McGuinness). He is survived by his loving children Brian Mauro and his wife Susie of Fair Haven, Alissa Rust and her husband Casey of New Providence, Jill Driscoll and her husband Sean of Bedminster; his cherished grandchildren, Ella and Brody Mauro, Corey, Ryan, and Ava Rust, and Jack and Samantha Driscoll and his dear siblings, Gary Mauro of New York and Barbara Brown of Minnesota. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
