Michael McCullough Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Jan. 7, 2023.
Michael Lee McCullough, 73, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on March 11, 1949 to Deloma and Wilson McCullough. After graduating from Camelback High School in 1967, he attended Phoenix College and ASU.
He married Sally Carlson on April 2, 1977 in Phoenix, Arizona. They had two amazing children: Anne and Thomas.
Mike joined the Phoenix Police Department in 1975 and proudly served for 25 years as a field officer, motorcycle officer, Detective and the Spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department. After retiring from the Department, he started his own consulting business in Accident Reconstruction which he continued until 2020. He was an avid golfer playing regularly with his long time friends.
His greatest joy was spending family time with his children and playing with his 3 grandkids, who he adored. His german shepherds loved when he played tug or threw the ball for them to retrieve. The many family trips were a highlight of his life and spending time at his second home in Prescott with family and friends was his special relaxing get away. He never missed Annie's volleyball or basketball games and coached Tom's Little League team faithfully for 7 years. Tom learned the basics of golf from his Dad and they played together every chance they had.
Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally, daughter Annie Tolar (Pete), son Tom (Lauren) and 3 adorable grandchildren: Chloe McCullough, Maverick Tolar and Carsten McCullough. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Susan Bettcher (Tom), brother-in-law Dr. Gary Carlson (Lois) and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean and brother-in-law Patrick, mother and father in law, Bert and Bette Carlson and brother in law, Dwight Bowen.
Mike will be remembered for his loyalty, great sense of humor, love of life and "always being there " for his family and friends.
Family, friends and others whose lives Mike touched are invited to his Celebration of Life on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 2:00pm at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church 6300 E. Bell Road Scottsdale, Arizona 85254.
