Michael Ray Melton Sr. "Ray", 75, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away on July 2, 2025, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Ray was born on February 14, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Frederick Edmond Melton and Tina Pauline Weber. He received his education at East Texas Bible College. Ray was a truck driver, construction worker, heavy equipment operator, and pastor. He served as a Sargeant in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Air Medal. He was also a City Commissioner in Nowata.
Ray married Sherry Melton on May 17, 1975. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 17, 2025. His hobbies included fishing, playing guitar, and coaching baseball.
Ray was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Melton ; his father, Fred Melton ; his mother, Tina Melton ; his brothers, Fred "Roy" Melton and Billie Melton ; and his niece, Tina Cardona.
Ray is survived by his wife, Sherry Melton ; his son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Stacy Melton ; grandsons, Christian Melton (with wife Emily), Camden Melton, and Joseph Melton ; sister, Polly Cardona (with husband Joe) ; sister-in-laws, Sandra Smith and Lili Melton ; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at Hillside Christian Church on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would be deeply blessed by a card with your memories of Ray or words of encouragement during this time.
