Irene Blakely, of Nowata, OK, went to her forever home on June 29, 2025, at the age of 68. Irene was born in Hanau, Germany to Theresia and Charles 'Bruce' Blakely on June 25, 1957. When she was a year old her and her family moved to Oklahoma.
She was a graduate of Nowata High School in 1975. She held many different positions starting as a bookkeeper for several family oil and gas companies. She later became a manager at the Chamber of Commerce, photographer at the Nowata Star, assistant VP at the First National Bank, VP at Regent Bank, and is currently employed at ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville in the Property Maintenance department as well as other employment. She attended OSU and graduated with honors at Colorado Banking School while working at the bank.
Her main joy in life was being a Mimi. She spent all of her free time with her kids and grandkids. She never missed an activity whether it was football, softball, baseball, band, soccer, programs, or recitals- she was always there to support and cheer them on. Her most favorite thing to do was swim. She taught all of her grandkids to swim by taking them to water parks several times a week. She also loved traveling to the beach and visiting her son Jason and his family. She loved concerts and always made sure to take everyone to experience them with her, the Eagles being her favorite. She loved to go shopping, to the zoo, to pumpkin patches, the movies, bowling, and even riding four-wheelers. She had joy in family get togethers for holidays and birthdays and loved giving gifts. She always welcomed extra cousins or friends to tag along on her journeys. She attended LifeChurch with them regularly.
Irene will be lovingly remembered by her children. Son Jason Sudderth and wife Cara of South Carolina. Daughter Brandy and Jeff Mullikin of Nowata, OK. Grandchildren Shawn Sudderth of Arkansas. Haylee Mullikin of Indiana. Jett, Case, and Dayson Mullikin of Nowata. And Izabella and Talia Sudderth of South Carolina. She will also be missed by numerous other family and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents Theresia and Charles Blakely, a brother Walter Blakely, two nieces Jaelin Sudderth and Emma Mullikin, and a best friend Christina.
Her journey on this Earth was one marked by love, compassion, and faith in God. As she celebrates her reuniting with those waiting for her in heaven, her light will forever shine brightly in our hearts until we meet again.
A celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 at First Christian Church, 211 S. Pine, Nowata, OK. Officiated by Rev. Elizabeth Grasham
