Michael was born February 23, 1965, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Carl and Alice Brumfield Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell worked as a forklift operator for the Dorel Juvenile Group before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, sports and he listened to all sorts of music. He was also an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.
Survivors include his step children, Barbara Ritchie, William (Hillary) Freeman of Kentucky; mother, Alice Brumfield; siblings, Lisa Rodriguez, Julie (Miguel) Macareno, all of Texas; special cousin, Betty Tobias; several nieces, nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; wife, Viola Kay Whitlock and nephew, Brandon Mitchell.
In keeping with the family's request, cremation will take place and there are no other services arranged at this time.
Inurnment will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
