AIKEN, SC - Michael James “Mike” Moran, 72, beloved husband of Peggy Moran, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike, aka “Meathead,” was born in the shadows of Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx, NY. He grew to have the voice and stage presence of a true rockstar. His love of music was fostered by his lifelong friends and band mates.
A natural storyteller, Mike could capture your attention for hours in his garage, reminiscing about his dog King, who saved him from a pack of rabid dogs, to the time The Ramones opened up for his band, The Rockspurs. He had a true gift of gab, love of music, family, The NY Yankees and Giants, but his greatest love was for his beloved wife and best friend, Peggy.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and John Moran, siblings Billy, Patsy, Joanie, John, Danny, and Eddie. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Peggy, son John and his wife Jackie, son Mick and his fiancé Jen, and daughter Meaghan and her life partner Andrew.
A lifetime of love and music prepared him for the great gig in the sky.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 14, from 5:00-7:00PM with a prayer service being held at 6:30 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions made in Mike’s name be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.com.
