Michael Murray Obituary
Michael J. Murray, age 84, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Bronx, Mike lived in New York before moving to Parlin in 1972. Before his retirement, Mike worked as a Prop Master and Stagehand with Local 1 I.A.T.S.E Theatrical Stage Employees. He loved to vacation annually with his family in Wildwood Crest and his more recent favorite vacations were to Aruba with his brother Bob and dear friend, Bonnie. Mike was an avid fisherman, often spending time with friends on the Misty Morn. He was also a member of the West End Fishing Club and a proud friend of Bill's for 40 years. Mike was an unwavering NY Mets fan and loved busting chops with family and friends! His sense of humor and love of friends is something that will be missed by all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Valerie in 2009, his mother Ellen Mary O'Sullivan and his brother Robert Sullivan.
Surviving are his loving daughters Deirdre Rubay and her husband Dave, Colleen Yuhas and her husband Rich, his cherished grandchildren Brandon Murray and his wife Hunter, LeeAnn Rubay and her boyfriend Tim, Ryan Yuhas and Caelyn Yuhas, his darling great-granddaughter Taytum Murray and soon to be baby Paisley James Murray, his cousin Jack O'Sullivan and his dear friends Bonnie Benitez, Nikki O'Neill and Carl Benitez.
Calling hours at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin will be Saturday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. A funeral service will be offered at 3:00pm and a private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
