Michael Richard Nelms

Mike was born in Springfield, MA on May 16, 1961 and spent his life in Kure Beach, NC. Mike was a man of resilience and wisdom who worked as an electrician for nearly 40 years and installed power in an impressive number of the buildings that make up Wilmington. He enjoyed nature, especially fishing, and liked to enjoy simple pleasures of life, a good sunrise, a cup of coffee, new jeans.

Mike is survived by his three sons, Michael Gilmore, Robert Faircloth, Richard Nelms, his former spouse Robin Nelms, his brother and sisters, Joe Nelms, Theresa Johns, Jane Cannon, Beverly St. George, his granddaughter and innumerable friends and coworkers that will always love and respect him. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Toshiko (Tosh) and Lindsey (Bud) Nelms.

Michael Richard Nelms passed away in his home on Tuesday evening on December 30, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family and beloved dog Smokey. The wisdom he gave us will let him live on through us.

The memorial service is at the Kure Beach Community Center at 11 AM - 1 PM on January 21, 2026 and is open to any that would like to come pay their respects to Michael Nelms or offer condolences to his family.
