Michael Porte Obituary
Born in Dallas, Texas on June 11, 1971, Mike grew up with a deep love for country music, and the iconic Star Wars saga. His passion for these interests was evident in everything he did and hours he spent with his singing, laughing and his genuine excitedness, especially when he heard his favorite songs.
Michaels family and friends will remember him as a loving individual who had a gentle soul and persevered over his lifelong struggles. He also had a special laugh that was contagious.
He is survived by his parents Victor and Cheryl, his two sisters, Sandy La Porte-Sword and Shannon La Porte. He had 4 nephews Andre Johnson, Jerry Sword, Ryan Sword, Shawn Vernor and a niece, MaKayla Vernor. He had many other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Mike was a life participant in the Special Olympics starting from a very young age. He started running track, which he did for many years, then basketball, and finally cross-country skiing. While in High School, Mike was part of Centennial High School Football team as a "team manager." At the end of the season, his senior year, he was honored by all the players with a lettermans jacket and a football signed by all the players. Michael continued to enjoy watching football and was a huge fan of the Boise State Broncos. He also enjoyed the New England Patriots.
A celebration of Michaels life will be held Tuesday evening February 11th, at Grace Foursquare Church 2240 E Franklin Rd, Meridian, Idaho at 5 p.m. Mikes legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will always be remembered for his zest for life, his love of music and movies, and his gentle spirit.
