It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Kevin Pregont, affectionately known as Mike, who left us on July 28, 2025, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Born on August 17, 1959, in Yakima, Washington, Mike’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a myriad of experiences that showcased his colorful character.
Mike was a true Jack of All Trades, embracing the philosophy of being a simple guy who dove into his interests with enthusiasm but never took himself too seriously. He had an incredible knack for discovering how to fix things, often dedicating hours to watch YouTube videos that sparked his curiosity and fueled his love of woodworking. His hands were never idle; whether he was crafting something beautiful from wood or diving into his passion for fishing, Mike found joy in the little things that life had to offer.
His creativity also blossomed through poetry, through which he expressed his thoughts and feelings in a way that resonated deeply with those around him. Additionally, Mike had a playful spirit, evident in his love of gambling and playing scratch-offs, always hoping for that next thrill while sharing a good chuckle about it with friends and family. Mike also had a great sense of humor and back in his earlier days loved to play pool and was an avid bowler.
Above all, Mike was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved children, Cassandra and Mitchael Pregont, who carry forward the legacy of his warmth and spirit. His heart swelled with pride for his grandchildren, Carsen, Ximena, and Ava, each of whom held a special place in his life, filling it with laughter and joy.
Mike is also survived by his siblings Shelly, Lizzy, and Susie, as well as his brother Jimmy.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Tony, Eddie, and Lynn.
As we bid farewell to Mike, we remember him not just for his myriad of interests, but for the warmth and kindness he offered freely to everyone he encountered. The world has lost a truly remarkable man, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the stories that will be told for generations to come.
Per Mike's wishes there will be no services held. A celebration of life will be held mid August, for details email [email protected].
