Michael Lee Rackers, 58, of Jefferson City passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1965 in Jefferson City the son of Glenn and Elizabeth "Betty" Rackers. Mike graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in 1983. He attended one year of college at Josephinum Seminary College before attending the University of Missouri for four years and graduating in 1988 with a degree in business. He would marry the love of his life Patricia "Patty" Kampeter on April 13, 1991.
Mike worked over 34 years for Metal Culverts Incorporated in Jefferson City, where he was dedicated to the people with whom he worked and the customers he served.
Outside of work, Mike was a life-long, very active member of St. Stanislaus Parish. His faith in God was unmatched and it led him to become involved in numerous religious organizations where his genuine care and concern showed in every situation. Leading with a smile, he was a man of his word and always made himself available to anyone who needed a helping hand.
As a youth basketball coach, Mike found his love for sports tied into his love for family when he coached both of his sons in their elementary and junior high years. He also enjoyed watching most any sports competition when time allowed and could talk about sports with anyone any day of the week. As a competitor himself, he thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely game of golf as well as running to stay active and time spent outdoors on his farm. Most of all he loved the time he spent with his wife, boys, family, and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Glenn and Betty Rackers; his loving wife, Patty Rackers; sons, Nolan and Ethan Rackers; brothers, Greg Rackers (Maureen), Jeffrey Rackers (Susan), Bruce Rackers (Amy), Aaron Rackers (Ashley); sisters, Amy Steinman (Ben), Monica Ralston (Jason); brother-in-law David Kampeter (Jessie); sisters-in-law, Carol Kampeter, Mary DeGhelder (Dave), Susan Heckenkamp (Joe), Teresa Luebbert (Chris), Joyce Gipe (Barry), Emily Bailey (Chuck); as well as, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joe Kliethermes.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church in Wardsville, Missouri, with Father Finder. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Stanislaus Foundation.
