July 20, 1955 - July 15, 2025
Michael A. Rendón, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, just days before his 70th birthday. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Lopez; his fathers, Rudy Morales and Elias "Coney" Rendón; and his brother, Elias Rendón Jr.
A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Michael was known for his unwavering dedication to his children and grandchildren, his unmatched work ethic, and his friendly disposition.
Born on July 20, 1955, in Lordsburg, New Mexico, Michael built a life rooted in hard work, good times, and love. He spent over 30 years as a skilled meat cutter, working for Furr's and other grocery chains. His precision, pride, and strong work ethic earned him deep respect in his field and among his coworkers.
Later in life, Michael brought that same dedication and passion to his family restaurant. The Mustang Cafe became his pride and joy-fulfilling his lifelong dream. For Michael, it was never just about food; it was about family. He made his employees feel appreciated, and treated his patrons like old friends. To walk into his restaurant was to be welcomed with warmth, laughter, and a genuine sense of belonging. He created a community-one plate at a time.
Michael was also a man of many passions. He loved to cook, watch football and racing, admire classic cars, and ride his trike on open roads. His sense of style was unmatched-always following his own advice that you should dress to impress.
Whether it was a story over lunch, a word of encouragement, or simply showing up when it mattered most, Michael made people feel seen and valued. He loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and gave more than he ever asked for in return.
He is survived by his daughter, Loren Lujan; his son, Aidan Rendón-Ruiz (Susana); his grandchildren, Haley, Jiana, Giovanni, Emilio, Ricci, and Ayliana; his brother and sisters; and many friends, extended family, and community members whose lives he touched.
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
