Michael Todd Rockafellow

Michael Todd Rockafellow, 42, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on January 28, 2026 in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born November 6, 1983 to Susan Richerson and the late Michael Rockafellow Sr. in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in Iowa City and attended City High. Michael had two brothers, Brandon Richerson (Emily) of North Liberty and Andrew Richerson (Kate) of Coralville, and one sister, Micahla Ruan of Cedar Rapids. Michael moved to Colorado Springs in 2020 and enjoyed his profession as a union stagehand in Denver and Colorado Springs.

Michael met his wife Patricia (Flynn) in 2013 in Iowa, moved to Colorado together, and married in the fall of 2025. He was excited about a land purchase and building their forever home in the mountains. Michael was a proud father to Trevor Rockafellow, Jasmine Rockafellow, and Emma Rockafellow. He also loved his role of father figure to Lillian Shrock, Colin Flynn, and Tegan Moore. Michael's children were the light of his life, and he had a special bond with them. He celebrated each achievement and was always excited to hear about their dreams.

Michael was an incredible son, father, husband, and brother. He also leaves behind many friends in both Iowa and Colorado. Michael had an instinct to help others, and there are many stories where he dropped everything and came running. Michael was full of life, funny and a great storyteller. He would often call loved ones just to chat and make them laugh. His large circle of family and friends are a testament to the joy and kindness he brought to this world.

Michael is preceded in death by his father Michael Rockafellow, stepfather Thomas Richerson, and son, Trevor Rockafellow.

A funeral mass will take place on February 21, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City at 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Patricia Rockafellow.
