Michael Barton Rogers passed away on September 1, 2025, long before anyone was ready. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Doris Ann Rogers, his beloved aunts: Clemmie Sigmon, Mary Lee Kokobun Rogers, and Shirley Richardson, Uncles: Roger Rogers and Mickey Sigmon, and his cousin, Curtis Richardson.
Michael is survived by his wife, Annie. As well as many dear friends from Myrtle Beach to Florida and many far horizons.
Michael is also survived by his beloved paternal uncle, Vic Rogers and cousins Kelly and Candice and families; Maternal aunt Tena Sigmon and cousins Michelle, Mickey, and Marcus and their families; Cousin, Dianne James and her Family as well as Paternal aunt, Alice Rogers and cousin Valere Rogers and her family.
Michael was born and raised in Myrtle Beach. He attended Saint Andrew Catholic School. He graduated with Honors from Myrtle Beach High School and attended The Citadel. Michael matriculated from the University of South Carolina-Coastal Carolina Campus. He also picked up a Doctorate in Theology along the way. Michael enjoyed his time at Coastal as a faithful member and lifetime advocate of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was and is fondly remembered by many as "Mad Dog." Michael is survived by many lifelong friends that were made from adventures with his brothers from Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Michael returned to Myrtle Beach where he loved to surf, kayak, sail, and ride his bicycles. He was very active in the ESA for several years. He also designed Big Haole Guy Longboards. Thanks to KR and the Village Surf Shop family for all of the Love and memories.
Michael worked with his cousin, Curtis, at Wood Magic. He then began designing homes in The Grand Strand (over 150) thanks to encouragement from Skip. Michael was an organizer for the Chicken Shack tailgate during many CCU football seasons. He brought folks together from all areas of the CCU football community.
Michael was a devoted son and nephew to his parents and Aunt Clemmie. He met Annie later on and they took their time before finally getting married. Michael's world went sideways in 2016 in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. He was sick for almost nine years. One of his Doctors called Michael the healthiest sick person he had seen. His biggest complaint was when he had to quit riding his bike on the Hulk. In 2018 Michael and Annie moved to NC so he could receive further medical care. He remained a trooper. He always had great love for his family and friends.
