Michael "Mike" Schratt, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on September 4, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, Mike's life was a testament to his faith, humor, and unwavering spirit. He passed away peacefully due to natural causes in Clearwater, FL, surrounded by the love of his family.
Mike was a devoted family man, deeply loved by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl A Schratt. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter, nurturing their children, David Schratt and Laura (Schratt) Mannino, alongside their respective partners, Kimberly and Justin. His role as a grandfather to Elizabeth and Sarah was one of his greatest joys, and the memories they created will be cherished forever. His legacy extends to his nieces Jennifer and Michelle, nephew John, and great-nieces Lily and Madison, who all held a special place in his heart. Mike's warm presence and jovial nature also left an indelible mark on his extended family of close friends, neighbors, and childhood companions.
Mike's commitment to his community was evident through success as the owner of Sir Speedy Printing in Clearwater, FL for 48 years. His business management skills were matched only by his dedication to serving others, a virtue instilled in him during his formative years at Temple University, where he earned his degree in Journalism.
A man of deep Catholic faith, Mike lived a life reflective of Christ's teachings. He served as a beacon of light to all who knew him, embodying the very essence of being funny, friendly, and faith-filled. His involvement in church activities and his unwavering belief in the power of prayer were sources of strength and inspiration to many.
Mike's passions were numerous, with a particular fondness for Florida State University Seminole football and the Tampa Bay Lightning ice hockey team. His love for playing golf, fishing, and boating were only eclipsed by the joy he found in family vacations to the mountains of North Carolina, boating trips to Boca Grande and visits to Pennsylvania and the Jersey shore.
As we remember Mike, we are reminded of the scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant." He lived a life full of purpose and joy, touching the lives of everyone he met with his infectious smile and generous spirit. Mike's memory will live on as a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
We take comfort in knowing that Mike is now at peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the life he led and the profound impact he made on this world. Michael Schratt will be dearly missed, but the love and light he shared will continue to guide us until we meet again in eternal glory.
