Michael J. Schultz
Michael passed away at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee surrounded by his family on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, just three weeks after his cancer diagnosis. The last words exchanged with his family were mutual "I love yous." He is survived by his five children, John, Kari, Sara (John), David (Lindsey), and Steven, his five grandchildren Corban (Ashley), Christopher, Timothy, Raegan, and baby boy Schultz due in May, the mother of his four youngest children Carol Schultz, and his long-time partner Julie Van Vleet. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Schultz, and his older sisters Peggy Strock and Pat Getting.
Michael was born in
Sturgeon Bay, WI, on November 5, 1948, where his father was Station Chief for the U.S. Coast Guard. This stemmed Michael's life-long love of lighthouses and boating. He enjoyed taking his family on boating vacations and would light up with joy whenever he was out on the water. Michael proudly served his country when he was drafted to serve in the Army during the Vietnam war from 1969-1971. He also spent many years as part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He spent most of his family days in
Pewaukee, WI, and later moved to
Fond du Lac, WI, with his partner Julie. There he sang in the church choir and left behind many cherished friends that he made wonderful memories with.
Michael had a passion and talent for building, owning a remodeling business until retirement and always helping the family with home additions, garages, barns, decks, furniture, etc. He proudly taught his children his trades along the way. He also shared his love of 60's music, always having it playing in the background, which most of his children still listen to. It will forever be their connection to their dad having countless memories coming from a single song.
Michael loved his family deeply and would do anything for his children at the drop of a hat. He was there any time, day or night. He put up with every mood and phase without ever giving up, and was always just a phone call away.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 380 Bluemound Rd. (corner of Hwy J & JJ, 4 blocks south of Interstate 94) Waukesha, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael's life.
