Michael Shannon - Wausau, WI
It is with much sadness that we announce the recent passing in February 2024 of our beloved brother/uncle Michael Shannon of Wausau formerly of Jefferson, WI. He was a kind and caring man. Michael was the son of the late Shirley and Irl Shannon. He is survived by siblings Candy (Neal) Heggie, James Kunda, John (Kim) Shannon, Jacqueline Shannon, Mary Shannon Stephensen, and Velva (Art) Merrick. He was preceded in death by siblings Scott Shannon, Marie Shannon, Jeffrey Shannon; and his son Craig. He is further survived by many nephews and nieces as well as his aunt and uncle Sharon and Stephen Pringle and his cousins Sharla and Shawna who always watched over him throughout his life. Michael was a graduate of Jefferson High School where he was an outstanding cross-country runner setting a record or two. He went on to Madison College (MATC) where he was part of the championship Cross Country team. He graduated from MATC with an Associate Degree in Sales and Marketing. What a salesperson he was.in high school back when the Magazine Subscription sale was the biggest fundraiser each school year, he was ALWAYS the top salesperson. For the past 30 plus years Mike has lived in the Wausau community with much support from health care workers. A special thanks to his case managers Lynn, Megan, and Carl and many others. He had a great friend Frank who would assist him weekly with cleaning chores in his apartment. He was loved by many in that community. His ashes will be scattered in a Marathon County park just outside of Wausau where he loved to go as well as in a Jefferson location to be determined. Private family gatherings will be held. If interested, in remembrance of Michael, a contribution can be sent to the Jefferson High School Cross Country team in memory of Mike. Our sweet brother, you are now running free and reunited with family members especially our mother and your son. We will miss you greatly.
