Michael Theodore "Papa Mike" Speich

Michael Theodore Speich "Papa Mike", 81, a resident of the Vernonia community passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025 at Providence St.Vincent Medical Center with family by his side.
Michael was born on September 21, 1943 at Camp White in Jackson County, OR. He was the oldest of two children born to Fred and Ruby Speich. He was raised in Seaside OR and graduated from Seaside High School Class of 1962. He enlisted in the United States Army on October 23, 1962, and spent time overseas in Germany. After his service in the Army, he made his way back to Oregon, and eventually settled in Hillsboro. There he raised a family that grew to include 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Michael was not known to be an idle man, and his career after returning from the army spanned many years at Tektronix, as well as Epson and Hunter Douglas.
Michael loved attending sporting events throughout the years for his children and grandchildren. Always a proud and encouraging fan in the stands to cheer them on. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, attending classic car shows, and going on adventures with his kids. Mike loved road trips and collecting pictures of his travels across the US. He enjoyed the last 6 years living on his daughter's farm in Vernonia surrounded by his loving family. He was a kind and gentle soul, always willing to lend a hand, and his family meant the world to him. The hustle and bustle of his four-generational home kept a smile on his face.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ruby Speich.
He is survived by his brother, Jim (Marcia) Speich of Battleground; 3 children, Nicholas Speich of Vernonia, Kristen (Gene) Winters of Vernonia, and Ray (Elizabeth) Jelinek of Newport; 7 grandchildren, Kyler, Liam, Emma, Evan, Ryan, Joseph, and Logan; 3 great grandchildren, Freya, Sophie, and Matthew; niece, Heidi Pozarich Beck, and nephew Chris Speich
