Michael "Gator" Stowe was born April 5, 1957 in Hampton, VA. He passed away December 14,2022 at home, in Gainesboro, in the care of his wife, Nancy, of 40 years, and his loving family and friends after a brave battle with cancer. He was 65.
Originally from Virginia, he lived most of his life in Florida where he met his wife. He retired to Gainesboro, Tennessee and loved caring for his land in "God's Country". He planted the seed and mowed it like a golf course. Mike was a master stone mason, a golfer, a teacher, a cook, and a friend to all he met. He had always taken care of the children in the neighborhood when they needed their bike fixed or money for food or clothes. He will be remembered as a loving husband, and father with a contagious smile.
Mike enjoyed flea markets, antique stores, and yard sales adding to his coke and bowl collection. He enjoyed finding and fixing old radios and lawnmowers.
He was the son of the late Howard Lamar Stowe and Faybelle Mickey Spradlin Stowe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Stowe.
Survivors included his wife, Nancy Stowe of Gainesboro, daughter Erin (Marc) Gismondi of Cookeville. Sister Susan (Pat) Piper of Hampton VA. Sister-in-law Elizabeth Blankenship. Nieces and nephews: Elizabeth (Drew) Douthit, Victoria (Steven) McDonald, Jeremy Piper, Christina (Roberto) Merida, Dusty Stowe, Felicia (Nicholas) Giaccone, Kyle Galloway, Fallon (Ryan) McLaughlin. Great niece Piper Douthit, and cousins Scott Roberts and Charlie Gain.
Mike will be dearly missed. With God's new chapter for him, he is now an angel.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Date to be announced.
Memorial donations can be made to Happy Haven Children's Home.
