Michael James Toomy

Michael James Toomy, passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 10th with his family by his side after a courageous, decade-long battle with cancer. He was born at Malden Hospital on April 26, 1964 and was a graduate of Stoneham High School Class of 1982. A longtime resident of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Michael was dedicated to his family. He was an incredibly talented artist, lyricist, and musician; a popular lead singer and front man for several local Boston bands in the 1980s. Most notably, he made his living as an artist and created hundreds of portraits and concept paintings. Also, Michael sold his own contemporary art as the sole proprietor of Londonderry Fine Art. Michael was beloved by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Leslie Toomy and their two children: daughter Colleen Toomy Olson and husband Ryan of Londonderry, NH, and son James Robert Toomy, of Manhattan, New York City. He is also survived by his siblings: John Toomy and wife Gay, Mark Toomy, and Kathleen Bedell and husband Larry as well as treasured nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both of his parents, James and Malvina Toomy and his sister, Maryanne as well as his sister-in-law Diane. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood in honor of Michael.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 14th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, where flowers can also be received.
