Michael Anthony "Mike" Tschirhart

Michael "Mike" Anthony Tschirhart, of Castroville passed away December 9, 2024 at the age of 82. He was born November 17, 1942 in Castroville, Texas to Rudolph J. Tschirhart and Clara Lucia Mann Tschirhart.
Mike graduated from St. Louis Catholic School in 1962. He worked for Castroville State Bank as well as Swift Meat Company for a short time before going to work for Southwestern Bell which became AT&T. He retired from AT&T in 2002. After his retirement, he liked to stay busy and worked with Jagge Service Company, Bourquin Automotive, Seaworld, and finally with Reichert Farms. Mike was a member of the St. Louis Men's Society, Quihi Gun Club, Headquarters, and the Medina Valley Hunters Club.
On February 13, 1965, Mike married Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Tschirhart at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. They were blessed with four children and thirty-seven years of marriage at the time of Betty's passing in 2002. On May 14, 2005, he married Sylvia Mechler Reichert at St. Louis Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Tschirhart of Castroville; children, Derek Tschirhart (Patricia) of Boerne, Monte Tschirhart (Carole) of Castroville, Amber Tschirhart Carroll (Dean) of Castroville, and Trevor Tschirhart (Lindsay) of Castroville; stepchildren, Pamela Bailey, Cindy Jungman (Chris), Rebecca Reichert, Jennifer Book (Reggie), Gregory Reichert (Gladys), and Tiffany Reichert (Jake); grandchildren, Dylan, Mikayla, Daniella, Daniel, Chloe, Lincoln, Nova, and Stella; ten step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Lynn Tschirhart (Beverly) of Castroville; sister, Ida Stein of Castroville; in-laws, James and Ruth Persyn, Patrick and Janet Biediger, and Frank Mechler, Jr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Tschirhart; brothers, Ferdinand Tschirhart and Earl Tschirhart (Dorothy); and brothers-in-law, Julius Stein, Richard Tschirhart, Bitsie Tschirhart, and Betty and Marion Keller.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas. A Bereavement meal will be held at the Braden Keller Center after the services.
