Michael Vatalaro Obituary

Vatalaro,
Michael F.
COEYMANS HOLLOW - Michael F. Vatalaro, 71, of Coeymans Hollow, N.Y., passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, on January 2, 1954, he was the son of the late Nicholas J. and Mary Jane (Delehanty) Vatalaro.
Michael was a devoted and treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 50 years, Lucinda A. (Ostrander) Vatalaro; his daughter, Kayla Vatalaro; his son, Taylor Vatalaro; and his grandson, Zane Vatalaro. He is also survived by his siblings, Paula Vatalaro, Kathryn Meyer (Gary), Nicholas Vatalaro Jr., Mark Vatalaro, Stephen Vatalaro, Matthew Vatalaro (Sandra), and Thomas Vatalaro (Susan). Michael was predeceased by his son, Michael Francis; and granddaughter, Julianna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, Michael spent more than four decades working with GE and later SABIC, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in the simple, enduring pleasures of life. He had a deep love for music and was often found with a guitar in hand at a campfire surrounded by friends and family, the favorite tune was Rocky Raccoon. He enjoyed riding his Harley on country roads, listening to his favorites, "Hotel California" by the Eagles, and "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osborne, at full volume. He was most at peace when surrounded by his cherished family. His bond with his grandson, Zane, was especially profound, a relationship full of love, laughter and affection. To Zane, he was simply "Pop Pop," the name that brought out the softest part of Michael's heart.
Michael will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, and great stories. He lived a life rooted in loyalty, generosity, and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the South Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 65 Willowbrook Ave., South Bethlehem, N.Y. 12161. A celebration honoring Michael's life will follow at 5:00 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Babcock Funeral Home, 19 Pulver Ave., Ravena, N.Y. 12143.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests house or garden plants as a living tribute and memorial to Michael's memory to be planted in the flower garden that he made for his wife many years ago. I worked with Mike at GE Plastics on Selkirk. He was always a stand up guy and personable and friendly guy to interact with. After I left Selkirk saw Mike infrequently at retiree gatherings. Always great to see him. He will be missed.
