Michael P. Veglia, 89, passed away early in the morning on August 14, 2022.
Michael was the son of the late Louis Veglia and Frances (Palumbo) Veglia. He was born on June 29, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of the couples four sons.
Michael graduated from Austin High School in Chicago where he won many awards for playing the trombone. A veteran, he served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955. Upon returning from his Army Service, he attended Logan College of Chiropractic in Saint Louis, MO where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He operated his own Chiropractic practice for 30 years, mainly in Illinois. Michael was a long-time member of the Rotary Club in Illinois. He retired to Florida 2008.
In addition to his career, Michael was passionate about the Fine Arts, especially Opera, Painting and Cooking. As a young man Michael sang and played trombone, he led a band under the name of "Jonny Vale and the Sultan's of Swing". He was a talented musician and painter. He was also a self-taught gourmet chef who enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Along with beloved his wife, Marie Angela, he is survived by three children, Charles (Kathy) Veglia of Palatine, IL, Francesca Veglia of Sarasota, FL, and Theresa (Jason) Anderson of West Lafayette, IN. Two grandchildren, Cassandra Anderson and Drake Anderson; and two siblings, Ron (Linda) Veglia of Tampa, FL and Louie (Barbara) Veglia of The Colony, TX.
Michael was preceded in death by his bother Jerry Veglia and sister in-law Anne Veglia.
Throughout his life, Michael taught his children how to love, honor and respect others by the way he lived, loved, and laughed. The example he set impacted not only his family, but his friends and all those he encountered throughout his life. The world is lessor with his passing, but heaven is brighter now that he walks its paths.
A private ceremony will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the International Music Fraternity for Women, Sigma Alpha Iota. SAI will direct the donations to the local Sarasota and Bradenton music groups that Michael loved to attend. You can make checks out to Sigma Alpha Iota and write "In memory of Micheal Veglia" in the memo and send to: 3702 39th St W Bradenton, FL 34205 or donate to a local charity of your choosing.
