Michael Wasmundt, 74, finished his earthly mission and entered his heavenly home on June 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Louis Wasmundt, and mother, Sylvia (Frederick) Wasmundt. He is survived by his sister, Judith (Wasmundt) Dicker; his brother-in-law, Alex Bruce Dicker; uncles, Larry J. and Robert Frederick; numerous cousins, and relatives of the Frederick and Wasmundt families.
Michael was an accomplished musician (piano, organ, trumpet, and French horn). At the age of 9 months he began tapping on piano keys and making music. He was a song writer and enjoyed expressing how he felt in proses and poems. He was well read, an intellectual scholar, and graduate from two theological colleges.
As a teenager and young adult, Michael was extremely healthy and an athlete who participated in many areas of sport. He entered the ministry with a zeal and a passion to help others. Shortly after entering the ministry, he became seriously ill and spent the rest of his life battling with poor health and medical issues.
His greatest admirer was his sister, Judith, who observed his courage to never give up, regardless of his pain and suffering. He never lost his faith or deep conviction that God was a good and just God. Many of his songs and writings expressed his love to God. He enjoyed talking about God's presence, that God was his friend, and he felt God was allowing his earthly journey to be as it was, not to punish him, but to make him a better person to help him understand pain and suffering.
On several occasions, Michael expressed sadness that his physical limitations hindered his work as a minister. However, he believed God hears and answers prayers and he continually prayed for others. His desire was that they would experience God's mercy and love, that God would bless them, and their lives would be filled with peace and hope no matter what challenges they were facing. He believed his earthly life was temporary and there is a better life without pain, sadness, and suffering. It is the life The Creator wants for every individual.
"An early sun rises on a bright morn
The evening sunset, skies all adorned.
The forest sounds, a babbling brook
Nature calls, please take a look.
The mighty oak, a flower small
Nature declares beauty to all.
Then this beauty echoes what men ought to know,
There is a Creator, a God, who loves their soul."
