Michael Joseph Welsh, 84, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024. Born in Manchester, NH he was the son of the late Helen and John Welsh. He shared 41 years of marriage with his wife Dorothy.
Michael was a 1957 graduate of Manchester High School Central and joined the US Navy serving on the USS Ranger and USS Oriskany. He was employed at the Manchester Police Department, retiring in 1989 as Deputy Chief of Police. He ended his working career with the Deerhead Sportsman’s Club. He was a 65 year member of (BPOE) Manchester Elks Lodge and served as Exalted Ruler, State President, and District Deputy GER.
Michael is survived by his spouse Dorothy (Spenard) Welsh; his sister Jane Gardner and her husband Peter; his son Brian Welsh and his wife Dawn; his daughter Kathleen Schoch and her husband Jamie; and two grandsons, Ryan and Tyler Schoch.
A memorial gathering will be held on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2024 from 11am-1pm at The Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend and celebrate Mike's favorite holiday.
