Michael graduated from Litchfield High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Michigan Technological University. Michael worked for several companies utilizing his engineering skills. He designed control circuits and software for Viking Corporation in Greenwood, MS. He also helped design residential and commercial geothermal heating systems for Water Furnace in Fort Wayne, IN. The last position he held was Laboratory Manager for Delfield Company in Mount Pleasant, MI which specializes in commercial refrigeration systems.
When Michael wasn't working, he loved to tinker in the garage, wrench on anything mechanical, go hunting or fishing, and spend time with his son Rowan.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Winchell of Litchfield; sisters, Kimberly (Bruce) Covey of Hillsdale and Nicole (Vashawn) White of Horton; brother, James (Karen) Winchell of Jonesville; and nieces and nephews, Vanden Lee White, Vanessa White and Christopher Winchell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Winchell and son, Rowan Morey.
There will be no services or calling hours for Michael Winchell at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield.
