A memorial service for Michael G. Young, age 75 of Hideaway, Texas, is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Hideaway Lake Community Church with Pastor Louis Mizell officiating.
Mike passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Lindale, Texas. He was born August 14, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Texas to the late G.B. and Elizabeth Jewel (Allen) Young. Mike had lived in Hideaway for the past 8 years where he was a member of Hideaway Lake Community Church and was previously a longtime resident of Highland Village, Texas. He retired from Southwest Molding Company in Dallas after 39 years of service in sales. After retirement, Mike was very involved in his community. He was part of the Duffers Golf Association, Hideaway RV Travel Club, and Men of Action. He also volunteered at the local David Powell Food Pantry and loved serving as a parking valet for his local church. In his spare time Mike enjoyed golfing, gardening, hunting, fishing, photography, traveling, and spending time with his beloved family and friends. Mike was a connoisseur of the finer elements of Costco, salt-water taffy, and key lime pie. He was the world's foremost competitor at the State Fair of Texas specializing in the Goblet Game. Not to brag, but he won the grand prize EVERY YEAR.
Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Darline Young; children, Douglas Simons, Courtney Young, and Bryan Young; brother, Alan Young and wife, Melinda; sister, Anne McBurnett and husband, Kevin; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Ray Simons and daughter, Dusti Danielle Williams.
In lieu flowers we ask that people kindly make donations to the Hideaway Community Church.
