Michalene Bartkowiak

Michalene (Mikanowicz) Bartkowiak, 87, of Allentown, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Bartkowiak, who died in 2021.

Born in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lottie (Yash) Mikanowicz. Mickie worked part-time as a radiologic technician for Emmaus Radiologic Associates and then, for thirty years, as the librarian at St. Paul’s Elementary School in Allentown. She was a member of St. Paul’s R.C. Church. For many years, Mickie had served as a volunteer at St. Paul’s Elementary School and Mercy Day School. She enjoyed playing bridge, attending Penn State football, reading and knitting.

She is survived by her two sons, Dave Bartkowiak and his wife Kery and Jim Bartkowiak and his wife Patti; there are six grandchildren, Scott (Shannon), Sean, Nick, Samantha, Mikey and Matt; brothers, Dan, Paul (Carole) and Peter. Mickie was also preceded in death by a sister Carol Chetaitis.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 6, 2025 in St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 920 S. 2nd Street, Allentown, 18103. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service in the church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville. Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
