Larry J. Bartkowiak, age 76, of Bay City, MI, passed away peacefully at Aleda Lutz Veterans Hospital
on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish - St. Hyacinth Church at 11:00 am. Rev. Father Loren Kalinowski will celebrate Mass and interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Wednesday at St. Hyacinth from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Arrangements have been made by Ambrose-Squires Funeral Home.
Larry was born in Bay City, MI to John & LeAnn (Jezewski) on September 29, 1948. Larry was a 1966 graduate from St. Stanislaus High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University, and then served in the US Army from 1970 to 1972, the Army Reserves for four years and the National Guard for six years. Larry began his career at the US Post Office in July 1974, married Maria Swiercz on September 27, 1975 and retired from the Post Office after 30 years in 2004. He was most proud of his children, their accomplishments and his grandchildren. He was also a history buff, an avid reader and stamp collector.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Maria; son Aaron (Jamie) and their daughters, Claire, Ryann, Quinn; daughter Alisha Chapman and her children, Layne and Jordyn; sister Debbie Pauwels (Don); four brothers-in-law, Bernard (Connie), Paul, John (Sandy) and Kenneth (Kathy); three sisters-in-law, Anne Swiercz, Marge Swiercz Clark (Preston) and Christine Clayton (Tracy); sister-in-law Pamela Wheatley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, for those planning an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to Aleda E. Lutz VAMC, Center for Development and Civil Engagement-135, 1500 Weiss Street, Saginaw, MI 48602 GPF #1022, or Covenant at Home, 515 N. Michigan Ave, Saginaw, MI 48602.
